As we couldn’t fly out as planned I spent a lot of time on the internet checking a range of options. Today we are on a bus heading for Dover along with other nationalities from all over the world.
We are hoping to catch a ferry but the internet weren’t taking bookings. It is just show up and see what happens. And after that ??? It is like a huge exodus from some national disaster but there are as many trying to get back into the country as wanting to get out. A little adventure we hadn’t planned.
Our tour will start today in Paris without us but hopefully we will catch up along the way.
We had another full day yesterday. We went to Covent Gardens (markets) The Tower of London, Cavalary Guards, St Pauls Cathedral, Thames River Cruise and the London Eye. So much to take in. We met a lot of interesting people including an Australian sailor (girl) over here on an exchange program.
St Pauls Cathedral is amazing. The architecture, art, and the beauty is undescribeable (and you can’t take photos inside) There have only been 2 royal marriages there and they have both ended in tragedy (Princess Diana) Inside there is a massive shrine to the Americans who either lost their lives in the over there or on the way over (128,000) They have a large handwritten register of their names. My question is where is the recognition for the many more Australians who lost their lives fighting with the Imperial Forces?
Anyway, when we left home we never thought we would be backpacking across the continent. Hopefully we will be in Paris in the next 24hours.
