Race Day

Day 21

Ian’s long awaited day to drive a Nascar finally arrived (after having to change the venue from Daytona to Las Vegas). Las Vegas Raceway is a huge area incorporating Nascar, drag racing, dirt racing, drifting, legend and for those who want to go out and race expensive cars like Lamborgini etc.

There was a tour through the garage (shop), training, videos, dressing in the race suit and then off to the track. After putting on a neck brace and helmet, Ian was second off the line. They have a target speed that they don’t want you to go over and Ian came in .2mph under that at 225kph. He actually passed a car. He so excited by the day he could not put it in words and he was really happy with his time.

We came back to the hotel, had an early dinner and went for a walk up the strip. We called in at most of the casinos and watched the water fountain show at Bellagios, the Volcano erupt at the Mirage and the pirate show at Treasure Island. There must have been thousands of people on the streets and we just couldn’t move.

Today we are having an easy day.
