Charlottetown

Day 46
Today we did an 8 hour tour of the best of Prince Edward Island.  We began with a tour through Charlottetown before heading out of town to visit the many light houses and the longest bridge ever built over frozen water – 13klm. We then watched the lobster boats come in before visiting Fisherman’s Wharf for a lobster roll.
Our next stop was the house made famous in Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables.  The house belonged to Lucy’s grandfathers cousins but she spent much of her childhood playing here and loved it so much it became the setting for her famous book.  It draws visitors from all around the world.  A lady Missioner went to Japan and read the book to the young girls there.  The carefree lifestyle appealed to them and the book continued to be read by generations.  They now make it a pilgrimage site and many even get married there.
We then drove around the island before heading back to the boat.
