New Orleans

Day 29

Yesterday was our last day in Dallas. We were able to meet up with my cousin’s friends, Patricia & Kevin, who showed us around the Nasher Sculpture Centre which has an amazing collection, one of the best in the world, then drove us around some of the areas where the very wealthy live, and then we had a lovely lunch. Ian tried a Rubens Sandwich. New York is famous for this sandwich but we were told if he had it there it would probably feed 6 people. We had a really nice day.

Today we flew to New Orleans and we are staying at the Sheraton which is about 2 minutes to Bourbon Street. After we checked in we went for a walk. We ended up in the Bourbon Bar in Bourbon St and Ian had a bourbon. I had a hurricane cocktail. It was a seafood bar and they had the biggest oysters which they were opening at the bar and selling for $1.00 each.  Ian said they were really tasty.

We went back to the hotel, checked in with our tour director, had dinner and went back to Bourbon Street. Come night time this area really changes to a pretty sleazy area with the Hustler Club, girls in the doorway and street performers.

We are here for the next few days. The people we have met for this tour so far are from Australia, England and Wales.
